Mawande Ka Zenzile works primarily in cow dung, oil paint, oil stick, and gesso — a material vocabulary drawn from isiXhosa healing traditions that transforms the abject into the sacred. His practice interrogates colonial violence, the politics of the black body, and the spiritual geometries of indigenous knowledge systems.
Represented by Stevenson Gallery (Cape Town · Johannesburg · Amsterdam). South African Pavilion, 58th Venice Biennale, 2019.
